Become a Certified Full Deck Practitioner™
Build teams that innovate better, collaborate better, and adapt faster.
Every team has strengths. And every team has blind spots.
Powered by Personality Poker® and Full Deck IQ™
Two decades of Personality Poker® in the field
The challenge is that the thinking a team already has isn’t necessarily the thinking it needs for the challenge in front of it.
Full Deck Certification™ equips leaders, facilitators, and internal change champions with a practical methodology for identifying those blind spots and turning different perspectives into an advantage.
Powered by Personality Poker® and Full Deck IQ™, you’ll learn how to help individuals understand how they think, diagnose the collective strengths and gaps of a team, and bring together the right perspectives for the work that needs to be done.
Because the goal isn’t to get everyone thinking the same way.
It’s to make sure you’re playing with a full deck.
A Message from Stephen Shapiro
For more than two decades, I’ve helped organizations around the world improve innovation and collaboration using Personality Poker®.
The most important insight isn’t just understanding who you are.
It’s understanding who you are not.
We naturally gravitate toward people who think like us. But the people who see the world differently are often the people who possess exactly what we’re missing.
Personality Poker makes those differences visible and creates the conversation. Full Deck IQ turns those insights into actionable team intelligence. And the Full Deck methodology teaches you what to do with what you discover.
That’s what this certification is about. Not learning how to run a card game. Learning how to help teams play with a full deck.
The Problem
Organizations know more about their people than ever before. Personality profiles. Strengths assessments. Engagement surveys. Culture studies. Employee data.
But knowing more about people doesn’t necessarily change how they work together.
A report might tell you that two people think differently. It doesn’t necessarily teach them how to use those differences. And it doesn’t tell a leader whether the team has the right mix of thinking for the particular challenge they’re trying to solve.
The Full Deck methodology starts with a different set of questions:
That’s where awareness becomes action.
The Full Deck Methodology
Full Deck Certified practitioners learn a simple process for moving from what people notice to what teams actually do.
Using Personality Poker®, participants discover how they naturally think and work. They identify their strong suits, recognize potential blind spots, and experience firsthand why some people and approaches feel natural while others can be frustrating.
Unlike traditional assessments, the experience isn’t about putting people into boxes. It’s about starting a conversation.
Because self-awareness isn’t the destination. It’s the starting point.
A group of talented individuals doesn’t automatically create a well-equipped team. Using the four-suits framework and Full Deck IQ™, practitioners learn how to examine the collective deck.
Does the thinking we have match the thinking this challenge requires?
The objective isn’t to create perfectly balanced teams. It’s to have the right deck for the challenge.
Identifying a gap doesn’t change anything. Doing something about it does.
Certified Full Deck Practitioners learn how to turn insight into action. That might mean bringing a different voice into a decision. Changing who’s involved in solving a problem. Reframing a challenge. Structuring a meeting differently. Improving communication between opposing thinking styles. Changing how work is assigned. Or recognizing that the team needs a perspective it simply doesn’t have.
The goal isn’t insight for insight’s sake. It’s better decisions, better collaboration, and better results.
What You’ll Learn to Do
You’ll learn how to:
You’ll leave with more than an activity you can facilitate.
You’ll have a methodology you can apply to real organizational challenges.
The Full Deck Practitioner Toolkit
Certified practitioners receive a growing collection of tools and resources designed to help you put the methodology to work.
Learn how to deliver the Personality Poker experience in a way that’s engaging, insightful, and actionable. You’ll receive instructional videos, presentation slides, facilitation guides, discussion questions, exercises, and complete delivery resources.
Extend the live experience with actionable team intelligence. Participants enter their Personality Poker hands and receive immediate insights into their thinking styles, strengths, and potential blind spots. Practitioners gain a broader view of the collective team, revealing patterns and opportunities related to collaboration, innovation, creativity, and execution.
Learn how to interpret the collective deck rather than stopping at individual profiles. Identify dominant perspectives, underrepresented perspectives, potential friction points, and areas where a team’s natural tendencies may be working against its objectives.
Move from “Who are we?” to “What does this challenge require?” Practitioners learn a simple process for examining a real business challenge:
This turns Full Deck thinking into a practical tool for real decisions, projects, and problems.
Learn what to do when the deck reveals a gap. You’ll explore practical interventions for common situations, including dominant thinking styles, missing perspectives, communication friction, stalled innovation, weak execution, and teams that keep approaching problems in the same way.
Apply Full Deck thinking across common organizational challenges:
Who It’s For
Build an internal capability for improving collaboration and team effectiveness without relying on outside facilitators every time.
Use the methodology for team development, leadership programs, offsites, onboarding, and cross-functional collaboration.
Identify the thinking gaps that can prevent teams from seeing new possibilities, solving difficult problems, and turning ideas into results.
Use Full Deck thinking to assemble better teams around important challenges.
Understand your own blind spots, recognize the strengths around you, and create teams that don’t simply reinforce the way you already think.
Add a distinctive, highly experiential methodology to your work with teams and leaders. Move beyond assessment and help clients translate insight into action.
The Certification Experience
Certification isn’t awarded simply for watching videos or attending training. To become a Certified Full Deck Practitioner™, you’ll demonstrate that you can understand, facilitate, and apply the methodology.
Master the Full Deck philosophy, four-suits framework, Personality Poker methodology, Full Deck IQ platform, team dynamics, and facilitation techniques.
Demonstrate your ability to lead a Personality Poker experience and create the conversations that make the methodology powerful. You’ll receive feedback designed to strengthen your facilitation and debriefing skills.
Use Full Deck thinking to examine a real team or organizational challenge. Identify what’s in the deck, what’s potentially missing, and how you would help the team bring the perspectives it needs into the situation.
Once you’ve demonstrated competency in all three areas, you’ll earn the designation:
Most participants complete certification within 3 to 6 weeks, although you can move at your own pace.

This isn’t about running more Personality Poker sessions. It’s about changing how your organization uses the talent it already has.
Explore MasteryWhy It Works
For more than 20 years, Personality Poker® has helped teams around the world achieve in minutes what many traditional programs struggle to accomplish in months. There’s a simple reason.
They experience their differences together.
And they begin seeing the people around them differently. One of the most common reactions is:
“I finally understand why they think that way.”
But the Full Deck methodology takes the conversation further. Instead of asking only:
Who am I?
We also ask:
Who am I not?
And ultimately:
What does this team need that we don’t naturally have?
Because who you are not may be exactly what your team needs.
The Objective
The objective isn’t to turn a Diamond into a Club. It isn’t to make everyone equally creative, analytical, organized, and empathetic. And it isn’t to get everyone thinking the same way.
The goal is to recognize what each person naturally brings, understand what’s missing, and bring together the perspectives required for the challenge at hand.
Play to your strong suit.
Recognize your blind spots.
